Natsu-Matsuri

Celebrate summer and Japanese culture with us! The Natsu-Matsuri is a summer festival held throughout Japan, and we're organizing one in the heart of Ottawa!

Come and enjoy some food, watch performers such as dancers, musicians and martial-artists, and discover Japanese culture with our many exhibitor booths.

Date: Sunday, July 23rd 2017
Time: 11am-4pm
Location: Mooney's Bay, Ottawa

Volunteers Wanted!

Want to be even more involved in the Natsu-Matsuri? Sign up as a volunteer! We need help at each of the festival stations throughout the day, as well as preparations. If you aren't free all day, you can volunteer based on your schedule.

Hanami & Sushi Picnic

Time: Noon
Meeting spot: Dunton Tower on the Carleton University campus (directions)

RSVP: REQUIRED (RSVP HERE)

Join us in enjoying the Japanese tradition of having a picnic under the beautiful blossoming trees during spring! Everyone is welcome, including friends and family of JET alumni.

The picnic will be in the arboretum, a large 26 hector park, located between Prince of Wales Drive and the Rideau Canal, with a lot of open space. It has over 1,700 of different kinds of shrubs and trees from all over the world – including the famous Japanese cherry blossom trees! We will meet at the Carleton University campus at Dunton Tower and then walk over to the Hanami Picnic area.

This is a bring-your-own-food/drinks event, but we are also taking orders for Sushi Fresh!

To order sushi:

1) Check out Sushi Fresh's menu:
bento boxes | lunch specials.

Note: Tax is not included in these prices, so please factor that in when you make your order.

2) When you RSVP to the Hanami Picnic, there will be a space to enter your order.

3) Bring your payment to the Hanami Picnic. We will have your sushi ready for you!

We look forward to welcoming spring with you under the spring blossoms!
